Education Evolving associates Bob Wedl and Kim Farris-Berg were quoted in a recent Star Tribune article about Pierre Bottineau French Immersion School, Minnesota’s first self-governed district school. The school, which is part of the Minneapolis district, has the features of a chartered school, but operates within a district framework.
Wedl is a former Minnesota education commissioner and Farris-Berg is the co-author of a new book which endorses the idea of self-governed schools. Education Evolving played a significant role in making self-governed schools a reality in Minnesota.
We are particularly fond of the last quote in the article:
“If I were a taxpayer, I would want all schools to be self-governed.”
-Tina Maynor, governing council, Pierre Bottineau French Immersion School
