Rethinking Education: A Series Asking Why and How

Beginning in October 2016, Education Evolving will be putting on an ongoing series of public events with speakers, usually from out-of-state, on current education policy topics.

Our kick off event will be a session with Kelly Young of Education Reimagined, on the topic of paradigm change toward learner-centered education. It will be a breakfast on Thursday, October 13 from 8am to 9:30am.

The format will generally be a presentation or panel, followed by Q&A and opportunity for networking.

Possible topics include:

  • Misalignment between skills sought by employers, and those taught in school
  • Moving Minnesota policy to "competency-based progression"
  • Policies in Colorado and in Denver Public Schools that foster school autonomy and innovation
  • Integrating Minnesota's various early-childhood programs and revenue streams
  • How teachers inside districts (such as Boston and Los Angeles) run teacher-powered pilot schools
