Announcing: Teacher-Powered Schools National Conference

We’ve been busy tracking—and encouraging—a growing national movement of teachers securing autonomy to collaboratively design and run schools. We call these Teacher-Powered Schools.

As part of this work we’re pleased to announce the 2015 Teacher-Powered Schools National Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 6th and 7th, 2015.

Teachers from around the country are creating sessions geared toward educators at all stages—from those just exploring the idea of starting a teacher-powered school to seasoned veterans always looking for ways to improve. There will also be sessions relevant to people in support roles, such as policymakers, advocates, principals, administrators, and union leaders.

Come learn, network, and connect with other like-minded teachers and supporters from around the nation! Early registration pricing ends August 1st, so register today.

Breakout sessions will cover how to:

  • secure and sustain school and teacher autonomy
  • demonstrate student success beyond test scores
  • construct peer evaluation in a flat organization
  • distribute leadership through committees, hybrid roles, etc.
  • hire and select colleagues
  • run effective meetings
  • and more!

See the full, confirmed list of conference sessions.

More information—including information about the pre-conference school visit and the post-conference design workshop—is available at: www.teacherpowered.org/conference.

The conference is sponsored by the Teacher-Powered Schools Initiative, a collaborative project of Education Evolving and the Center for Teaching Quality.
