This January 28th-29th, hundreds of educators committed to transforming student learning and the teaching profession will gather in Los Angeles, CA, for the 2017 Teacher-Powered Schools National Conference! Join teacher-powered practitioners as they share lessons-learned and best practices for collaboratively designing and running all aspects of their schools. There will be inspiring sessions for teachers, as well as people in policy, union, media, and administrative roles.
Today, November 17th, is Give to the Max day in Minnesota. Donate to Education Evolving and support our current initiatives empowering teachers to be designers and deciders in their schools, advocating for state policy that’s more open to and encouraging of innovation and student-centered learning, and more.
In the coming months we’ll be telling the stories of Minnesota chartered schools that have innovated with personalized, relevant, and engaging approaches to student learning. The series kicked off with the post Yinghua Academy: A National Pioneer in Chinese Immersion. The profiles will highlight a critical original purpose of chartering: to generate innovation.
In addition to the school profiles, our blog continues to cover important policy topics. A recent set of posts cover chartered school facilities—the struggles schools face in finding and securing them, the lease aid and affiliated building corporation policies that help Minnesota schools in that struggle, and the charter facility policies other states are using.
