In late May 2017, Governor Dayton signed into law the new “innovation research zone pilot program”, championed by Education Evolving and several other local organizations. The legislation allows groups of district and/or charter schools to form “innovation zones”, which gain flexibility from rule and law in order to implement and research new approaches to learning.
