Students Respond to E|E's Assertions

POSTED SEPTEMBER 16, 2008

Education|Evolving has been asserting for some time now that education policy leaders and influencers ought to spend more time listening to -- and acting on -- the opinions and experiences of students and other young people.  Taking our own advice, we decided to ask five young people from around the country what they think of the assertions in E|E's most recent paper: "The Other Half of the Strategy".  Did this sampling of students see real innovations in their high schools? If their experiences were unusual, what difference did it make as they went on to college?  See what they had to say.

Curtis Johnson gives podcast on his new book, ‘Disrupting Class’

POSTED AUGUST 19, 2008

Education|Evolving's Curtis Johnson appears on a podcast with co-author Michael Horn, speaking on the concept of disruptive innovation, and its application to US compulsory education as described in the book.  The second half of the podcast moves beyond the topics covered in the book itself, and considers the state of Higher Education through this lens of disruptive innovation. Apparently radical developments within the sector such as iTunesU and OpenCourseWare may not be as disruptive as they first appear, and large swathes of the sector have no room for complacency.
