De Jure and De Facto
De jure authority is granted to the school governing board via the pilot agreement. The agreement gives the board authority to make decisions in areas indicated, including authority to hire and fire the head of school and approve the budget. De facto, teachers make decisions in the areas indicated.

About the Learning Program

Teachers develop their own lesson plans, projects and materials to give students “multiple points of entry” to the curriculum. In other words, teachers use different modes of instruction e.g., lecture, project-based learning, small group discussion, individual research and writing so that every student finds a way to engage with the material.
